Måns releases his third wine today: MZ BARRIK is a red wine made from Garnacha Tinta grapes of the renowned Terra Alta wine region in Catalunya, which is filled in a gold-clad wine barrel.
- MZ BARRIK is something completely new and very premium. A wine from my favorite grape packaged in a sleek wine barrel, says Måns Zelmerlöw
This wine is made exclusively from the Garnacha Tinta grape, which is one of the most widely grown grapes in the world. However, where the grapes are grown affects the character of the wine. Spanish Garnacha wines acquire a slightly fiery, very intense and complex character, distinct tannins and a lingering finish. Last but not least, the wine has an unusually low sugar content of only 0.82 grams of residual sugar per liter.
BARRIK comes in a completely new type of packaging for Sweden - a small gold-clad wine barrel. The inspiration for the name as well as the design comes from "barrique", the French word for a smaller type of oak barrel of 225 liters used for aging quality wines.
- This barrel is a revolutionary and innovative type of packaging made from recycled metal. Once the wine is finished, the tastefully stylish barrel can be used as a wine cooler or a flower pot, for example. If you don't want to keep it, you can of course dispose of it as usual at your local recycling station, "says Malin Lindberg, Senior Brand Manager at Hermansson & Co.
- I am so very happy and proud of MZ BARRIK! It's been a tremendously exciting journey to be involved in the painstaking work that goes into launching a new wine. From the choice of region, grapes and aging method, to developing the Garnacha blend that feels absolutely perfect. And last but not least, to be involved in developing the design for this unique type of packaging feels enormously privileged, "says Måns Zelmerlöw.
Måns has always had a genuine interest in food and drink, which intensified when he lived for a couple of years in Barcelona. Here he fell in love with the flavors of the food and drink, as well as the Spanish way of socializing over a meal. So it's definitely no coincidence that Måns' wine releases, MZ Cava, MZ Raval and now MZ BARRIK, have their origins in Catalonia.
- Like my previous wines, I have chosen to produce my new wine in partnership with Barcelona Brands S.L. They are not only reputable, but also have a strong focus on origin, quality, craftsmanship and sustainability. These are extremely important parameters for me, "says Måns Zelmerlöw.

A new wine by Måns is available from today: the red wine MZ Raval.
A red wine that also comes in a brand new groundbreaking type of bottle - made primarily out of recycled glass. MZ Raval from the legendary D.O Terra Alta in Catalonia is of course also both organic and vegan-friendly.
MZ Raval comes in glass bottles with each bottle having its own unique design. This is because the bottles are made from recycled glass, which gives slight colour variations in the glass and air bubbles that give a wavy texture, without affecting the overall quality of the glass. Defects or cosmetic variations that might otherwise cause the bottle to be discarded during production are taken care of here, reducing production waste by up to 25%. As the bottle contains 65-75% recycled glass from external and internal sources, it contributes to a reduced carbon footprint compared to ordinary glass.
MZ Raval by Måns Zelmerlöw is a red wine made from the grapes Syrah and Garnacha, and just like Hola MZ Cava by Måns Zelmerlöw, it is both organic and vegan.
The must from the Syrah grapes has been aged in large French and American oak barrels for 6 months, while the popular Garnacha grape has been aged in concrete tanks for 12 months. These aging techniques gives the wine a finely tuned character, some animal notes and a slight vanilla sweetness.
MZ Raval by Måns Zelmerlöw is named after the historic district of El Raval where Måns lived during his years in Barcelona. While in Spain, Måns' already intense passion for food and wine developed further. Over the last year, Måns has been seen cooking at home in Sweden alongside some of Sweden's top food personalities.
Måns has also chosen to produce MZ Raval together with Barcelona Brands S.L., a renowned wine producer with a strong focus on origin, craftsmanship and sustainability. The majority of the grapes are harvested by hand.
– Food and drink is my real jam outside of music! I love Spain, and I love cooking for my family and friends. Having the opportunity to develop my palette and knowledge of wine with Hermansson & Co and Barcelona Brands S.L is a dream come true. MZ Raval is a wine that has taken no shortcuts when it comes to production, taste and sustainability. In Terra Alta, the vineyards are located at extremely high altitudes and the people who harvest the grapes by hand on the steep slopes are truly the "heroes" of the wine world, says Måns Zelmerlöw.
The grapes in MZ Raval by Måns Zelmerlöw are harvested in Terra Alta which is the southernmost D.O wine region in Catalonia, northern Spain.
Terra Alta - meaning high country - is located on the border of Tarragona with mountain peaks reaching 950 metres. The label on the bottle reads "old wine", meaning that the grapes come from vine stocks of up to 60 years of age, which adds another dimension to the wine, both in terms of aroma and taste.
– I couldn't be more proud of this launch. Garnacha is my favourite grape grown all over the world, but Garnacha from Spain in particular tends to have a more fiery and flavour-intensive character. This is a true artisan wine where we also have a sustainability mindset. And it's the kind of wine that really goes with everything, but above all it's a superb food wine. It instantly takes you to a busy street in Barcelona, says Måns.

Today sees the release of “Circles and Squares” by Måns and Polina Gagarina. Not only is the single their first project together, this is also the official song for the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021 which will be held at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm in March.
“Circles and Squares” is written by Måns Zelmerlöw, Stefan Örn, David Lindgren Zacharias, Sandra Bjurman, and Jon Eyden.
“We wanted to write a song with a slightly serious tone and at the same time bring out the beauty that exists between two figure skaters, the passion, the art, and of course mutual respect. This is mirrored in the arrangement of the song that has an intro full of expectation before we bring in the full orchestra that takes the song to the heights we wanted to hit,” says Stefan Örn.
The songwriters wanted to create a soaring sound, which they did by recording the song in the historical Atlantis Studio. Everything was recorded live, with the exception of the string orchestra which was recorded by Erik Arwinder.
“It feels great that Polina and I have been entrusted by the Swedish Figure Skating Association to do the official song. I was extremely impressed by her as a singer back in 2015 in Vienna,” says Måns Zelmerlöw.
“I think Circles and Squares is a very direct and romantic song, which is just how I see figure skating! I hope that figure skating fans and music lovers alike will enjoy the song,” says Polina Gagarina.
“The song will help lift the World Figure Skating Championships and will be performed during the Championships themselves. We’ll play it during build-up and training and the music video will be shown on the big screen inside the arena. I hope that figure skating fans around the world play the song to get in the right World Championship mood! The song will be available on most digital platforms, so just enjoy it!” says Ulrika Molin, President Organizing Committee of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021.
The music video that accompanies the single will be released on February 28th. It tells a story, in which we see Måns as a caretaker of an ice rink, where he works hard every day. One day, he sees Polina figure skating. In their dreams, they meet as a figure skating couple and we get to follow the dramatic and theatrical events as they unfold on the ice. The video, which will be released on YouTube, is a production made at Husby ice rink, north of Stockholm, at the beginning of 2021.

Måns launches his own Cava: Hola MZ Cava by Måns Zelmerlöw – a dry, crisp and fruity Cava that is both organic and vegan. As of Feb. 10th, the Cava will be available in Systembolaget’s order assortment.
Launching a Cava was an obvious choice for Måns, as Spain is his great source of inspiration when it comes to both food and wine. For a while, Måns lived parttime in Barcelona where he spent a lot of time writing music and enjoying the culture, the weather, the relaxed lifestyle and the people. In Spain, his already great interest in food and drink developed even further.
– After a few weeks in Barcelona, I began finding my way to restaurants that the locals went to, and I had my first “real” tapas experiences. We would sit there for hours and order dish after dish, drinking Cava late into the night and just enjoying ourselves. With an enormous love for Barcelona in particular, as well as its surrounding nature, I find it incredibly exciting to have had the opportunity to create a Cava together with Hermansson & Co and the producer Barcelona Brands S.L, says Måns Zelmerlöw.
Cava is made with same traditional method used to produce champagne in France, which means the secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle. In Spain there are six regions that produce Cava, and the grapes used are Macabeo, Parellada and Xarel-lo. Barcelona Brands S.L is a renowned wine producer with a focus on origin, craftsmanship and sustainability. The vines in Penedes grow some 500 meters above sea level and the grapes are harvested by hand.
Hola MZ Cava by Måns Zelmerlöw combines the freshness of white fruits, such as apple, pear and citrus, with a finely tuned toasty bread scent that is a result of the Cava resting on lees for 18 months. The Cava has a rich mousse with persistent bubbles. Hola MZ Cava by Måns Zelmerlöw is a brut with a sugar content of only 9.2 g/l that is both organic and vegan. The Cava may be enjoyed as it is, with or without food, but is best served at 5-6 degrees C° as a social drink or paired with seafood dishes.
– Working with Måns has been incredibly fun. We knew of his connection to Spain but were really impressed by his knowledge and interest in both food and wine. Putting your signature on a wine is a commitment, and this is a complex, delicious and tasty Cava that represents Måns’s Barcelona, says Malin Lindberg, Senior Brand Manager at Hermansson & Co.
Hola MZ Cava by Måns Zelmerlöw (no. 50260) costs SEK 99 and is available in Systembolaget’s order assortment.
– I am extremely happy with my Cava. It is absolutely delicious! Not too sweet, not too dry, and it goes well with almost everything, whether as a social drink or paired with a feast, Måns concludes.
